  1. Despite parent support, Westlake principal resigns

    By MICHELLE E. SHAW
    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 04/02/08 Sandra Ervin, principal of Westlake High School in South Fulton County, will not return to her post next year.

Ervin, whose job was rumored to be up in the air, submitted her resignation to the Fulton County school board Tuesday, said Mitzi Woody, chief of staff for the system. The resignation was accepted, effective at the end of the school year, Woody said.

Many parents and students thought Ervin was going to be reassigned to another school or fired. Message boards in the south Atlanta community were full of speculation about — and support for — the principal.

Last week Ervin declined to comment.

Supporters of the principal showed up at the school board offices in large numbers during a work session Tuesday to ask the board not to remove Ervin from Westlake. Some even spoke during a pubic comment portion. They did not know Ervin had submitted her letter of resignation earlier in the day and they were not told before the meeting ended, because personnel matters are not discussed publicly.

Prior to becoming principal of Westlake, Ervin held the same position at Sandtown Middle School, also in South Fulton County. She opened the middle school in 2004 and stayed until she was assigned to Westlake in 2006.

Westlake has more than 2,000 students, according to the district Web site.

  3. I worked under this woman the two years she was at the high school, and I thought that she was not as bad as the incompetent idiots she had around her. They were all inept...from the midget to the whore. She would have had a lot more success if she would have hired people who "supported the vision" and actually qualified to do their jobs. Reading this blog it seems like this is a pattern for her. She surrounds herself with stupid, weak people, and I think that that is definitely a sure sign of insecurity. It is unfortuate that the same things she was experiences in Fulton she is experiences in Cobb. It is a pity she hasn't learned her lesson, but do we ever?

  5. You are looking at things from the outside in. You did not have to work for her, we have children too and it is not fair for her to expect some of the things that she demanded. While your child is soaring ours are suffering because we give everything to the school so we that we can keep a job. It's not fair to us and it may not have been as bad if she wasn't nasty. She doesn't just try to get you fired she tries to make sure that you can't teach anymore at all.....how nasty is that??? that's okay though because karma is a bitch..... How would you feel if you had a boss like that? don't be so quick to accept the surface matter as it is because it goes alot deeper. SOOOO glad she's gone
